Can You Buy a House with Zcash?
Yes — with transparent ZEC. Buyers fund the purchase from a t-address, RealOpen verifies the wallet on-chain, converts the ZEC and wires fiat to escrow, and the transaction closes like a traditional cash purchase.
Transparent only — what that means for you
Zcash has two pools. Transparent addresses (t1…) are readable on-chain like Bitcoin. Shielded addresses (zs1…, u1…) hide balances from everyone — including the title agent who needs to see your funds. RealOpen works with the transparent pool only.
Key Points
- verification and proof of funds run on t1… addresses
- shielded ZEC must be moved to a t-address before verifying
- a test transfer sent from the shielded pool cannot prove ownership and will fail
- link your account xpub to count every transparent address in the account
- RealOpen converts the ZEC and wires USD to escrow
