RealOpen Certified · Lesson 0 of 8

Why crypto buyers are worth your time

After this, you'll know what the credential asks of you and why the first skill it tests is telling real buying power from a story.

After this lesson you can

  • Say what this course teaches and what it leaves out.
  • Name the one thing that changes with a crypto buyer: the money has to be proven before anyone writes an offer.
  • Describe what the credential tells a client, a listing agent or a lender about you.

The call you're going to get

A buyer says, "Do you take crypto?" A lot of agents freeze. Some say no. A few say yes, and then spend three weekends showing homes to someone who never controlled the money. Sometimes that person was lying. More often, someone had lied to them.

There is a better answer, and it takes about two hours to learn. That is this course.

What you'll be able to do

Three things, in the order a deal meets them.

  1. Tell real buying power from a story in one conversation. Ten questions, asked plainly, sort a buyer who holds crypto from a buyer who has been promised crypto, and both of those from a buyer who is being robbed and does not know it yet. You will not have to guess from how confident someone sounds.
  2. Get a legitimate buyer verified and to the closing table as cash. The buyer's crypto is converted, escrow receives a wire, the seller is paid in dollars, and you write your standard contract. You will know the steps, the timing, and the seventeen things that derail a closing.
  3. Handle everyone else. The listing agent who has never seen one of these. The seller who thinks she is being handed Bitcoin. The loan officer who says sell it and wait sixty days. The title officer reaching for the phone.

More than one way to buy a house with crypto

A buyer can sell the crypto first and show up with dollars. A buyer can borrow against it. Once in a while a seller takes the coins. And a buyer can hold it right up to closing and convert it then. You will learn all four, and which one RealOpen runs. Crypto is not only for all-cash deals, either. It can be the down payment on a financed purchase, or the reserves that get a buyer qualified.

The one thing that changes

With a bank-funded buyer you ask for a letter. With a crypto buyer you ask for verification, and a screenshot is not verification. Before anyone writes an offer, you need to know the money exists, that your buyer controls it, and that it can be turned into dollars by closing. That is the crypto equivalent of proof of funds or a pre-approval, and it comes first, before showings.

Learn that one habit and you will work buyers that other agents in your market fumble, and you will stop losing weekends to buyers who were never going to close.

What this is, and what it isn't

This is not a blockchain course. Nobody here will teach you tokenization or tell you where the technology is headed. It is about the deals agents are closing now with buyers whose money is in crypto, and about being able to show people you have been trained and tested on them.

It is a niche. It is not a gold rush, and nobody is promising it will double your business. These buyers exist, and an agent who is ready for them stands out.

One thing so you can stop worrying about it: RealOpen does not represent buyers or sellers and has no agents. Your client stays your client. If you bring the client, RealOpen takes nothing from your commission. RealOpen is also not a lender.

How the course works

Eight short classes. Each is a few minutes of reading with a short check. If you already know the material, skip the reading and take the check. Nobody is making you sit through anything, and nothing times out.

Then a scenario exam, drawn from every class: the buyer whose partner overseas is about to release the funds, the loan officer who wants sixty days of seasoning, the wiring instructions that change the morning of funding.

Pass, and you are RealOpen Certified. You get a verified badge for your site, a public profile in RealOpen's agent directory, a certificate, and eligibility for referrals when a buyer comes to RealOpen without an agent in your market. You also leave with eight field resources you can print and use on Monday.

It costs nothing. It is a private designation, not a state license and not continuing education credit. What it says is simple: this agent has been trained and tested on taking crypto-funded purchases from first call to closing.

RealOpen Certified is a private designation issued by RealOpen. It is not continuing education credit and is not issued or endorsed by any state licensing authority. How certifying works.
