How to send a transfer from a Ledger device

How to send a transfer from a Ledger via Ledger Live, approved on-device, to complete a test-transfer wallet verification and avoid wrong-network loss.

Sending from a Ledger goes through Ledger Live (or a connected interface), with the transaction approved physically on the device. The same flow covers a tiny verification dust transfer and any larger transfer.

Steps

  1. Open Ledger Live, go to Send, and select the account holding the funds.
  2. Paste the destination address and verify the first and last characters.
  3. Confirm the network/asset matches the destination.
  4. Enter the amount. For a verification test transfer, a very small amount is enough.
  5. Review the network fee and adjust if the network is busy.
  6. Connect and unlock the Ledger, open the asset app, and verify the address and amount on the device screen before approving.
  7. Approve on the device to broadcast. Track it until it reaches the required confirmations.

Avoiding mistakes

  • Verifying the address on the device defeats clipboard-swapping malware — don't skip it.
  • Wrong network is the most common way funds are lost; match it end to end.
  • Underpaying the fee can leave a transaction stuck. Confirmation timing is network-dependent.

For the current send flow, see Ledger's official support documentation.
